What's New

21st August, 2009  EMERGENCY ROAD CLOSURE This map shows the road closure involved with the Rutland County Council Emergency Planning Exercise on the same day as the Ride and Stride. Fortunately, it isn't too extensive although it might affect the aspirations of anybody trying to visit every Rutland church on the day. It will only affect you if you were planning to cycle/walk directly from Empingham to Ketton. The two ends of the diversion will be manned by police.

21st August, 2009  The churches and chapels listed on the 2009 Sponsorship/Application Form (64) are correct. Be advised therefore that Route Planner lists two that are no longer relevant to Ride and Stride. (1) St. John the Baptist at Wakerley is actually in Northamptonshire and we no longer include it (makes it easier for you!). (2) The Methodist Chapel in Whissendine has just closed so when you go to Whissendine you will only be able to count St. Andrews (makes it tougher for you!).

12th August, 2009. Check in procedure at RAF Cottesmore. For security reasons, do not approach the armed guard but keep to the left and proceed to the Visitors Reception in the portacabin. They will sign your Sponsorship Form in there.

28th July, 2009. More information on the two new developments this year: TEAMS and PRIZES

8th July, 2009. Application Form for 2009 participants.

3rd February, 2009.   Copy of presentation given by George Shepherd on 4th February at Rutland County Council offices, but you will need PowerPoint on your computer to open the files.

We are indebted to Andy Walker for designing and providing an Excel template for planning your route. This shows the number of churches, the mileage and time it should take to complete your own chosen route. You can vary your average cycling speed, the time you intend stopping at each church and your starting time (if not 10 am). Click here to find out how to do it.
